（中央社德國法蘭克福6日綜合外電報導）歐元現在可能面臨生存危機，但矗立在法蘭克福市中心，14公尺高的歐元巨大標誌雕塑，今天依然展開13年來規模最大的翻修工作。

歐元標誌設置在歐洲中央銀行舊址前面，藍色與金色相間的結構體現已斑駁不堪，許多法蘭克福市民都覺得醜陋不堪。歷經多年風吹日曬和磨損，加上常遭抗議群眾攻擊，施工單位打算拆除後，大大整修一番。

這個歐元最知名的標誌，屬於非營利組織Frankfurter Kultur Komitee所有。標誌預計斥資6萬歐元翻修，打算安裝時下流行的LED照明與新面板，資金來自歐洲央行、德國聯邦銀行（Bundesbank）和個人捐款。

歐元標誌大翻修，正好碰上希臘5日舉行公投，結果拒絕債權人的紓困條件，導致歐元面臨有史以來最重大的考驗。翻修預計10日完工。

歐元標誌雕塑是由德國藝術家霍爾（Ottmar Horl）設計，如今成為法蘭克福最多人拍照留念的地標。「紐約時報」（The New York Times）報導，歐元標誌建於2001年，之後歐元紙鈔和硬幣於2002年1月開始啟用。

霍爾稍早說：「這件雕塑是法蘭克福最多人拍照、也是曝光率最高的地方，除了吸引遊客參觀，也是最為人熟知的藝術品。」

他說：「儘管發生這些問題，我還是認為貨幣聯盟與團結一致的歐洲聯合力量，是21世紀最偉大的成就之一。」1040707
